How Long Does It Take For CBD To Kick In?

While all of our CBD products are made with the same premium, full-spectrum hemp, our Daily Gummies, Daily Drops, Daily Softgels, and Rapid Calming Melts are all absorbed differently in the body, which can lead to slightly different effects. The onset times of these products vary, so this is where the help of a Dosage Specialist can be really useful for personalizing your CBD routine to fit into your daily lifestyle.

Fast-Acting CBD

How long does it take for CBD to kick in?Both our 300mg Daily Drops and our Extra Strength 1500mg Daily Drops start to work about 10-30 minutes after ingestion.  We recommend taking your Regular Strength Daily Drops by starting with 1 full dropper under your tongue — try to hold the oil there for about 60 seconds or until the oil has almost completely absorbed.  The idea here is to have the oil sink in through the glands under our tongue, which allows the CBD to get to work really quickly!

This method is called “sublingual absorption” and is a powerful and quick way to use CBD.  The beauty of sublingual absorption is that it allows CBD to sink right into our bloodstreams, and you don’t need food in your stomach in order for it to kick in.  Can be used anytime, anywhere!

Slow-Release CBD

Daily Softgels

Our Daily Softgels on the other hand work as a behind-the-scenes dose of CBD, and they do absorb best when taken with a meal or a snack. With Softgels, it’s really important to have food in your stomach so that the CBD has something to bind to and last in our system. The Softgels are swallowed like a vitamin, and take around 1-3 hours to kick in, depending on your metabolism and the food you’ve eaten.

Once your CBD kicks in, you want the feel-good effects to stick around, right? There are a few factors that can affect how long your CBD lasts. In a University of Minnesota study, researchers found that taking CBD with fat-rich foods increased the absorption rate of CBD by four times! Here at Equilibria, we’re a big fan of healthy omega-3 fatty acids, and you’ll find several Dosage Specialists with jars of cashews or almonds on our desks.

If you’re not able to take your Softgel alongside a full meal, then consider a small, healthy-fat-rich snack. A handful of almonds. Avocado toast.  Cottage cheese and fruit.  Whatever it is, just be sure to include a little fat.  CBD is lipophilic, meaning that it binds to our fat cells, so including foods like this may help your CBD dose to be more effective and cause the effects to last longer into the day!

Daily Gummies

Daily Gummies are a delicious, new way to take your CBD. They’re slightly different than our softgels because they don’t have a protective softgel coating. When you begin to chew a gummy, 10mg of CBD begins to absorb into your sublingual glands and enters the bloodstream. The more you chew your gummy, the faster it activates! If you chew your gummy less, it’ll take longer to activate and likely last a bit longer. Anything swallowed will go through the digestive tract and act as a sustained release.

Daily Gummies can be taken on an empty stomach or with a meal or snack — it’s up to you! Many of our members like to take them in the morning for a delicious start to their day. They activate in as little as 30 minutes to 1 hour and tend to last around 4-8 hours in the body.

Speedy Quick CBD

Our Rapid Calming Melts are the quickest way to use CBD. I often refer to them as my “emergency CBD dose” for when I’m feeling frantic or frazzled. These Melts feature a unique mucosal binding technology that makes it possible to absorb up to 95% of the CBD directly into your bloodstream. There’s no other CBD product like this on the market — and even though it’s just 5mg, you’ll find they pack a punch since it kicks in so quickly!

The Rapid Calming Melts start to kick in within 5-10 minutes. When you want some fast, emergency stress relief, take a sip of water to wet your mouth, then place the Calming Melt under your tongue. You might notice a refreshing minty taste as the Melt begins to absorb and sink in through the glands in your mouth.

We often hear folks say that they experience a “wave of calm” or find that they can lower their shoulders and finally take a nice deep breath.  These Rapid Calming Melts are powerful and our fastest CBD technology yet!

Your Endocannabinoid System and You

How long does it take for CBD to kick in?Everyone’s body chemistry is different, so keep in mind that your CBD routine may not look like your friend or partner’s CBD routine — and that’s OK!

CBD works by interacting with a system in our body called the Endocannabinoid System (or ECS for short).  The ECS plays a part in regulating every system in our body and allowing our body to repair itself from stressors.  Over time though, our Endocannabinoid System can become depleted so that this master regulatory system is not able to keep up and maintain homeostasis, or balance.

This is where CBD comes into play and helps to replenish our ECS so that it can get back to balancing and repairing our various systems.  While you might feel your CBD kick in within the first few hours, keep in mind that the full scope of effects comes with daily, consistent CBD use.

Some women taking CBD may see their desired results within the first 1-3 weeks — that’s typically a sign that your CBD dose is heading in the right direction.  Women struggling with more long-lasting issues may find that it takes around 2-3 months to see their desired results.  Consistency is key! CBD is more of a marathon, not a sprint.

If you’re not seeing your desired results and you’ve been using CBD for at least a week, now might be the perfect time to reach out to your Dosage Specialist.  You can email our Dosage Support team and Pharmacy team at dosage@myeq.com If you’ve made a purchase from our site, you can set up a complimentary Dosage Consultation phone call by going to www.myeq.com/dosage
