EQ Team Spotlight: Meet Jenna W.

 

What is your background and how did you join the EQ team?

I am a Food Scientist and spent the first 8 years of my career at large CPG companies specializing in innovation. In 2017 I decided to pursue a Masters in Food Science where my research was focused on cannabis in food, specifically on formulation stability and processing methods. With the pandemic I had a lot of time to focus on myself and what I was passionate about and narrowed it down to three things: innovation, accelerating growth at start-ups, and the opportunity to have a large impact on the organization I was a part of. Living in Chicago, EQ’s home base, made this role and company a perfect fit for my passions, background and aspirations!

 

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far (here or elsewhere)?

Definitely to not ‘sweat the small stuff’. Particularly at a startup, and in an industry that is ever-evolving, each day is a new challenge and can be mentally (and emotionally) draining. Keeping a focus on the mission of the company and not letting the little things drag you down is key! Oh, and as a Product Developer, you definitely have to love what you are making and stand proudly behind everything you create!

 

What is your favorite meeting?

My favorite meetings are definitely when I get to show off prototypes of a new concept to the team. Seeing everyone get excited about having our ideas turned into reality and getting to experience the product through all of their senses is such a rewarding feeling!
