In our EQ Team Spotlight, meet the faces behind your favorite CBD! Today, we’re featuring Leigh K., the Senior Manager of Member Support here at Equilibria!

Can you tell me a little bit about yourself and your work background? 

I am a curious person that loves to learn. I love animals, screen printing, pottery, twee pop music, and exploring all of Chicago’s fantastic vegan food options. My work background is very deeply involved in customer service, dating all the way back to my Assistant Manager days at Blockbuster Video in High School! Whatever role I have, I have always made sure it helps people in some way. Previously, I have worked at a tech company that supports non-profits, an arts & crafts supply e-commerce company, and a green cleaning chemical company.

Being vegan, I am committed to finding ways to live sustainably. This drive and my desire to help others has really impacted my life and career choices. All of our products are vegan currently except for the softgels.

I first heard about Equilibria when I met the co-founder, Marcy, through a mutual friend. At the time I met Marcy, I was going through a very stressful time and this naturally came up in our conversation. She let me know she was starting a CBD company and that she was looking for testers. So, I have the unique perspective of being an early-stage tester of Equilibria products.  

As soon as they were available to purchase, I was one of the very first customers. I have taken it every day since, so it has been nearly three years! Before Equilibria, I had never heard of a Dosage Specialist and I was reluctant so I didn’t schedule a call. However, once I became an Equilibria employee, I had my first dosage call and now regularly communicate with her, whenever I feel like my routine needs an update.

As the Senior Manager of Member Support, it is a joy to interact with my Member Support team. I feel immense pride in the team I have hired and trained. They care so, so deeply about our members and their success with Equilibria. We have a great dynamic and we not only take care of our members, but each other as well.

What is your favorite meeting?

The Member Support Team’s ‘TeamWorks Meeting’ since it gets my team together to review one type of ticket which we dissect and analyze how we can best support our members.

Sometimes, these meetings focus on questions we know are being asked often or, alternatively, something that comes up more rarely to make sure our Member Support team is acutely attuned to helping members at every stage of their experience.

I also really enjoy any team-wide meetings where I am able to present our findings, analysis, and feedback from the Member Support team to all of Equilibria. We are not just a product company, we are focused on the heart and soul of our members’ CBD journey. 

What would the younger version of yourself think about your job?

My High School self would have definitely thought my role at Equilibria made sense. Focusing on continuing to help people at a company that creates products from natural ingredients and even created vegan gummies using natural food coloring would be very exciting. 

What is the most rewarding thing about your job?

Ensuring that Equilibria is helping our members of all genders find balance in a way that makes sense for their own life. Knowing that everybody has different routines, regimen, different stressors, different schedules, and things they are juggling, it is important to me that we’re not just selling products, we’re truly making a difference in people’s lives.

What is your #EQ?

Every morning to start my day, I take a full dropper of Regular Strength Daily Drops to start my day. There have been times in my life where I have needed the Extra Strength Daily Drops for that additional support, especially in the early stages of the pandemic.

I love our Relief Balm and use it regularly for tech neck. I also use the Rapid Calming Melts on an as-needed basis, especially when I have to get a deck ready for an important meeting or treading into new waters with a research project!

Since the Daily Gummies are brand new, I haven’t found quite yet where they fit in my schedule, but I am hoping to include them in my afternoon for an extra boost of focus and balance!

Also, I am really excited for the additional new vegan products we’re currently developing behind-the-scenes!
