For many of us, coffee is a beloved and essential part of our everyday routines to help us get through our day. On really long, tiring, and stressful days, we sometimes reach for an extra cup or two. This helps us meet work deadlines, squeeze in errands, and shuffle the kids to their activities. At Equilibria, we think of CBD in a similar way. Your daily CBD dose is an important part of your self-care routine, but sometimes, you need a few extra doses on top of your regular routines to make it through the tough days. On those days when life throws you a curveball, episodic dosing might be just what you need to find quick relief and restore balance to your mind and body.

CBD Dose: 5 Reasons To Try Episodic Dosing

What is Episodic Dosing?

CBD Dose: 5 Reasons To Try Episodic DosingEpisodic dosing simply refers to adding a small, extra CBD dose in addition to your daily CBD routine as needed. Since everyone has different needs and body chemistry, there is not one specific dose or single use for an episodic dose. Many of our members lean on an additional CBD dose for support in moments when they are distressed, unfocused, or experiencing discomfort.

When you decide to incorporate episodic dosing into your CBD routine, we always recommend going low and slow. For example, start with a ½ of a Rapid Calming Melt or 2.5mg of CBD. Give your body time to absorb your dose and then evaluate how you’re feeling after about 30 minutes or so. If you’re not finding relief after then, you could try another ½ of a Rapid Calming Melt (2.5mg).

5 Reasons EQ Members Use Episodic Dosing

  1. Stress. We all have it, but it’s different for each person. It can take a toll on how our bodies function and leave us feeling frazzled. In those moments of peak stress, try an episodic dose to bring you back to center and calm your mind and body.
  2. Occasional challenges with sleep. You typically don’t have much trouble with unwinding before bed, but every so often when you have a lot on your plate, your mind starts racing as soon as your head hits the pillow. Consider taking a small episodic dose to ease you into bedtime. If you find yourself waking up throughout the night with much difficulty drifting back to bed, a small episodic dose may be just what you need to find rest again.
  3. Discomfort. Now and then, it’s normal to experience tension, aches, and stiffness. In these unpleasant moments, many of our members find relief by taking an extra dose to soothe their bodies.
  4. Focus. If you’ve got your hands full finishing a project before a big deadline, a small, as-needed dose could be helpful to boost your focus and get back on track.
  5. Before or around your period. Your cycle is right around the corner and you can feel yourself growing easily impatient and edgy over the small things. A few extra doses here and there could be helpful to relieve some tension and feel grounded.

What products are best for episodic dosing?

CBD Dose: 5 Reasons To Try Episodic DosingWhile Equilibria offers a variety of full-spectrum CBD products, fast-acting products are usually optimal for episodic dosing. This is because they can provide support when you need it right away. We recommend checking out these products:

  • Rapid Calming Melts. Our Rapid Calming Melts are the fastest acting ingestible product we offer and are ideal for episodic doses. They absorb sublingually and kick in more quickly than the Daily Drops, Daily Softgels, and Daily Gummies. They’re a great option for fast relief! Rapid Calming Melts absorb within 10 minutes and generally last around 3-6 hours. Keep in mind they pack quite a punch. We suggest going low and slow when adding them into your day. Start with a ½ of a Rapid Calming Melt or 1 Rapid Calming Melt to see how your body responds.

  • Daily Drops. If you don’t have the Rapid Calming Melts, our Daily Drops are also a great option for episodic dosing. Similarly to the Rapid Calming Melts, the Drops are absorbed into the glands under the tongue. The Drops start to work in about 10-30 minutes, with the effects lasting around 4-6 hours. A lot of our members buy an extra bottle of Daily Drops to carry around just in case they need an episodic dose when they’re out and about. Start with ½ dropper (5mg/0.5mL). Wait about 30 minutes and if you feel you need more support then, try another ½ dropper (5mg/0.5mL).

  • Daily Gummies. While we love to take our Daily Gummies regularly, if you’re in need of relief and have them with you on-the-go, these could be a good way to take an episodic dose as well. Try taking a ½ of a gummy in moments of stress or discomfort. If you find no relief after an hour, you could try another ½ gummy (5mg). The Daily Gummies don’t kick in as fast as the Rapid Calming Melts and Daily Drops, so they typically take 30 minutes to an hour to release and last for 4-8 hours.
